One developer, one dachshund.

FullSpeed Games is the name I put on the games I make. There is no office and no team. There is a desk in Zwolle, a dog next to it, and a long list of things to fix.

Darius

I am Darius Rosendahl. By day I design and build websites under the name DoorDarius. In the hours around that I make Donna's Quest: Rogue in GameMaker. I draw up the rooms, tune the attacks, chase the bugs and write the words on this site. When you write to hello@fullspeedgames.com, I am the one who answers.

Donna

Donna is a dachshund. She is real, she is small, and she is not impressed by much. In the evening she takes the armrest of the couch, between her people, and watches whatever is on. When there is a knight on TV, she watches more closely. That is the whole premise of the game. The title screen is our living room. The dream that starts when she falls asleep is the part you play.

Donna on her boulder. Not a knight yet.

Why a solo developer makes this game

Small teams make small games, and one person makes a very small one. I chose a roguelike because runs are short, and my evenings are short. Every run has to be worth playing on its own, or it is not worth making. That constraint shapes everything: quick and heavy attacks that feel good in the first minute, three places to learn instead of thirty, and elemental powers that change a run without a spreadsheet.

I also make it because I want to play it. A game where the hero is the dog next to my desk did not exist, so I am making it, with her there the whole time.
